Apple Advises Against Using Rice to Dry Wet iPhones

Apple has proven wrong the rumor that you can save a wet iPhone by putting it in a bag of rice. Apple claims that by enabling tiny rice particles to go inside the phone and create more issues, this strategy could worsen the damage to the gadget. It’s also advisable to refrain from putting foreign things into the phone’s connector and using compressed air or an external heat source.

Apple Advises Against Using Rice to Dry Wet iPhones

Apple’s latest wet iPhone advice – “Avoid placing your iPhone inside a rice bag. If you do this, you could allow rice granules to harm your iPhone,” Apple cautioned in a recent customer alert. To get rid of extra fluids, Apple suggested gently pressing the iPhone on your palm while the connector was facing down. It is then recommended that you leave the phone for at least half an hour in a dry place with airflow. The iPhone should be kept in a dry place for up to a day if there is still a liquid alert, which indicates that there is liquid in the connector or under the cable’s pins. The gadget might not completely dry for up to 24 hours. Apple advises disconnecting the cord from the adapter and reconnecting it if the phone is still not charging after drying.

When a phone is wet, should you still connect the charger?
Apple stated that it is not advisable to charge your iPhone when it is wet. Apple did note that in an emergency, you can choose to override the liquid detection and charge your iPhone by reconnecting it to the cable or accessory.

Additionally, you may still use your wireless charger to charge your iPhone. For best performance, Apple noted, make sure the back of your iPhone is dry before putting it on your Qi-certified charger.

Days or even hours may pass while drying.
It is crucial to remember that, based on the volume of water that has entered the device, the drying process may take many hours or even days. It’s imperative not to use your phone at this period because doing so could cause further harm. After drying, Apple recommends taking the phone to an authorized service provider for expert help if the problems persist.
